Thank you for considering Builth Wells High School as a potential destination for your Sixth Form studies. Our Sixth Form offers exciting and demanding new challenges that provide important steps in the process of preparing for University and future employment.

Each year we welcome approximately 50 students into Year 12 to pursue a variety of Advanced Level courses, Level 3 BTECs and the Advanced Welsh Baccalaureate Qualification (Skills Challenge Certificate).

Sixth Form is a time for developing independence and responsibility in a challenging and supportive environment. Sixth Form students are role models for younger pupils and it is important for our students to engage in a range of extra-curricular activities to broaden their experience. Sixth Form is the most exciting but also challenging two years of a student’s educational life – a time to specialise, prepare for further education and consider career choices.

Our Sixth Form is friendly and welcoming. By encouraging students to aim for the highest standards whilst making significant contributions to the running of the school, we strive for an adult atmosphere in which freedom and responsibility are evenly balanced.

In addition to the A level provision based in Builth Wells High School, students can access provision in Llandrindod Wells, Brecon, Gwernyfed, Crickhowell and Maesydderwen secondary schools and Neath and Port Talbot College, Beacons Campus, Brecon.
