The Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013 aims to make Wales a walking and cycling nation. Its purpose is to enable more people to undertake active travel for short journeys instead of using motorised vehicles where it is suitable for them to do so.
Integrated Network Map (INM)
To give you a quick insight into the ambitions for the 2017 INM, the focus will be on creating mini active travel networks within each town, specifically linking schools, leisure centres and high streets. This is not to say that suggestions for active travel routes outside of this focus will be disregarded. The INM is an ongoing process and all data gathered will be analysed and validated, so if there are any suggested routes which are not included on this year’s map they may well be included on future INM publications (provided they meet the required criteria).
With this in mind, school pupils and staff are invited to actively get involved and have their say on Active Travel in the town. To participate simply need to visit the webpage http://www.powys.gov.uk/en/roads-transport-and-parking/active-travel/
and follow the 4 steps to active travel strides.
