Builth Bulletin

This has been a busy week for staff and pupils, particularly for those in the PE department who have been participating in cricket, rugby and athletics competitions. We have also been busy interviewing staff who will be joining the school in September.

School Meals

Powys has announced that the price of the meal of the day is going up from £2.25 to £2.30 with effect from Monday 6th June. To read a copy of their letter, please click here.

Year 11

Pupils are only required to attend their exams after half term. There is a timetable of revision sessions and timetabled lessons will still run if pupils wish to attend lessons for the exams that they have not sat. Please be aware that pupils should wear school uniform if they are attending lessons, revision sessions or sitting exams.

On Thursday 9th June, Year 8 students are going on a Geography field trip to Borth to investigate coastal processes and how people have tried to manage the coastline. This will form their final Geography leveling assessment for the year. Please make sure that you return your letter if you haven't already done so.

Pupil Success

Ollie Mustafa in Year 10 has been invited to Summer School at St Anne's College Oxford, after getting a distinction in the UKMT second round! We are very proud and excited for him.

Forest School

A number of Year 9 students have taken part in the Forest School initiative this year and received an invitation to visit Builth Primary to demonstrate their skills.  They worked in their groups to plan and deliver sessions for 25 Year 5 students.

Daniel Weale, Harvey Wyatt and Katherine Brown demonstrated the safe use of tools and made bows & arrows with all 25 pupils.

Katie Witherston and Lanie Gillum led their groups on a mini beast tour with identification charts.

Connor O Niell, Liam Wild and Ffinbar Crompton toured the school identifying the many varied tree species on the grounds.

Ffinbar gave solo talks on appropriate safety clothing and proudly showed off his staff discussing how he made it.

Congratulations to the Year 7 boys rugby team who took part in the Cardiff Blues north finals day on Thursday 26th of May, at USW campus. They played St Johns, Cyfartha, and Treorchy schools, winning 2 games and losing 1. They really enjoyed the experience and narrowly missed out on representing the whole region in the Welsh finals by one try.

The county tournaments for Years 7 and 8 took place this Tuesday at Brecon Cricket Club. The Year 7 team finished fifth and the Year 8 team were beaten in the final by Crickhowell High School. The boys really enjoyed the day.

The Powys Schools' Athletics Championships were held at Brecon High School on Thursday and we took teams from Years 7 to 10. The official results have not been finalised yet but the following were winners on the day. Click here for picture from the event.
